abraface range
Several plate grades are available to meet different industrial constraints:
ABRA-FACE 63®
58–62 HRC, chromium carbide-based overlay, offering a good balance between abrasion and impact resistance.
ABRA-FACE 65-450®
59–63 HRC, overlay based on chromium carbides and complex carbides, combining abrasion resistance, impact resistance and thermal resistance up to 450 °C.
ABRA-FACE 67-650®
60–64 HRC, complex carbide-based overlay, designed for abrasion, impact and high-temperature environments up to 650 °C.
CORED WIRE HARDFACING
The overlay is produced using cored wires formulated for abrasion, ensuring a homogeneous distribution of carbides throughout the entire thickness of the deposit.
This technology provides an optimized microstructure and improved wear resistance compared to standard ferrochrome hardfacing.
CONTROLLED MICROSTRUCTURE
The alloy formulation allows the integration of different types of carbides (Cr, Nb, Ti, W…), with controlled size and distribution.
At equivalent hardness, this structure further limits volume loss due to abrasion and extends the service life of the plates.
CONTROLLED DILUTION OF THE OVERLAY
The first deposited layer is produced with controlled dilution into the base steel, reducing the risk of spalling during forming or under impact in service.
FORMABILITY PROPERTIES
The plates can be cut, bent, rolled or fabricated, allowing the production of complex parts while maintaining their wear-resistant properties.
ABRA-FACE® plates are wear-resistant bimetallic plates combining a steel substrate with a carbide-rich overlay deposit.
Designed for highly abrasive environments, they provide durable protection of equipment while maintaining good forming capability (bending, rolling, cutting).
BMI supplies these plates either as stock sheets or integrated into the manufacturing of custom wear parts.
